PRINCIPAL’S REPORT

I continue to be impressed with the outstanding start we have had to the year here at Exeter High School. Classrooms are settled and learning opportunities are being maximised due to the calm nature of our school. Can I please remind parents that if you have a concern or question about your child’s education, the Grade Leaders are your first point of call as they are with the students on a regular basis. When you call the office to make an appointment, the more information you can give about the issue the better so that the Grade Leaders can find out as much relevant information as possible before contacting you.
The redevelopment is still running on track and Tas City is aiming to hand the new building over in September, which will be an exciting time for the year 9 and 10 students to finish the year in the new classroom. We are just about to install 4 larger umbrellas in the top courtyard to provide students with some shade.
Our year 11 and 12 students last week completed a camp at Hagley Farm School where TasTAFE ran a tractor operating course and a side-by-side course. The students commented on how much they enjoyed the opportunity and Mr Finnigan said their behaviour was exceptional.
I would also like to remind parents of the pantry of food staples that we have here in the administration area. These are provided for families to help with the ever-demanding day to day costs that we are faced with. Please feel free to come in and help yourself to these food items.

2025 EHS SWIM TRIALS
On Monday 3rd March, Exeter High School will be conducting swimming trials at the Launceston Aquatic Centre in order to select our Inter-high Swimming Team.
Students must be able to swim 25 metres of at least one stroke to attend the trials as the races will be swam over 25m, 50m and 100m distances. Ribbons will be presented to placegetters for the swimming events and new swimming records may be established.
Students will be transported to and from the venue by bus and the trials themselves will be between 9.45- 1.45pm. This will include individual races, lunch break, relays and novelty events. Students are encouraged to bring plenty of healthy snacks and a drink; however, they may be able to access the café between events. Students will be transported back to school by 3.00pm in time to catch their normal buses home.
An approximate schedule for the day is:
9.45 – 10.15 | 50m and 25m Freestyle Grade 10’s - Grade 7’s |
2025 SLC CAMP
On Wednesday 12th February, our Student Leader Council embarked on a journey to broaden our horizons and explore new frontiers in Ulverstone. Once we arrived at our destination, we began our first challenge of teamwork and dedication. Our lesson was that you are only as fast as your slowest player. We had to run as many laps as possible within ten minutes without letting go of a rope. We ended up achieving 3 laps! We then started to plan the new year. We ended the night with a movie and laughter. On the morning of the second day, we planned the layout of the year and chose our positions within the council of 2025. We are proud to announce our Co–Presidents, Libby and Keeley; our Secretary, Rosemary; our Event Coordinator, Grace; and our Culture Creators, Cleveland, Riley, Asha, Levi, Willow and Ollie. We ended the day in celebration as we headed to the water slide. We spent our last day in Devonport, where we played mini golf and enjoyed a cold treat before heading to the Bluff for a scrumptious lunch. We went on a short coastal walk and then headed back to Exeter. It was an eye-opening experience, and we feel closer than ever before. We are so excited to start the new year!
2025 VET TRACTOR CAMP – HAGLEY FARM SCHOOL
All students undertaking the Certificate II in Agriculture attended a very successful, 3-day overnight camp last week at Hagley Farm School. At the camp, students gained certificates of achievement in tractor operations, front-end loader operations and quad bikes. For some students, this was their first time behind the wheel of any vehicle, other students came with lots of experience, however every participant gained essential skills and knowledge in the safe operation of these machines. A tiring but very enjoyable time was had by all. Many thanks has to go to our fantastic instructor Leigh Bellchambers from TasTAFE and to Liam Fox and the staff at Hagley Farm School for the excellent accommodation and meals.
