PRINCIPAL’S REPORT

I am consistently amazed at the conscientious effort, commitment and persistence to learning that is demonstrated everyday by our staff and students. I can walk into any classroom at any time of the day and ask students what they are learning about, and they can always articulate what they are learning and the purpose for learning it. I always see students asking questions about what they must do to improve, which is proof that we have a very strong culture of learning here at Exeter High School.
As we continue to cultivate a positive and inclusive environment, I want to make clear the importance of respectful behaviour within our school community. Respect is the foundation of a harmonious and effective learning environment, and plays a crucial role in shaping our students' characters.
Respectful behaviour is vital for maintaining healthy relationships and creating a positive environment. We want all members of the Exeter High School community to be considerate, kind, and show empathy towards others in all interactions. Respect is behaviour that should be practised by everyone, regardless of age, gender, or culture. When people feel respected, they are more likely to communicate openly, share their thoughts, and work with others to achieve common goals. As community, we want to create a respectful and inclusive environment. Any form of disrespect will not be tolerated: this includes the use of offensive or derogatory language, or any kind of racism. YEAR 11/12 X-HEMP EDUCATION DAY
Year 11/12 Ag students spent an enjoyable couple of hours at the X-Hemp Education Day at Cressy. Run by the Tasmanian Hemp Association, the students learnt how industrial hemp is grown, harvested, processed and made into a multitude of different products from building materials and insulation, to stock feed, food, clothing and cosmetics. They were able to sample hemp burgers, hemp drinks and hemp smoothies.

2025 SWIMMING TRIALS

Exeter High School held its annual swimming trials at Launceston Aquatic Centre on Monday 3rd March. Students from Years 7-10 participated in a range of 25m, 50m, 100m and relay events, earning house points and competing for championship points and inter-high selection. All students represented the school with pride and upheld our school values throughout the day. Special mention to the Year 9 boys whose participation was outstanding and contributed to almost half of Lenah’s total points for the day, and congratulations to Thomas who broke the Year 9 boys 50m Freestyle record (old time: 28.73sec, new time: 28.57sec). Students enjoyed the opportunity of a leisure swim following their efforts in the program of competitive events. We would like to say a big thank you to those parents who came along to support their children and soak up the casual atmosphere on the day.
The Division 1 Inter-high Swimming Carnival is scheduled for Friday 17th November and potential swimmers will be announced shortly.

NEWS FROM THE CANTEEN – THE FOOD HUB
I will be making an appearance in each newsletter to give an insight on what your canteen is providing for our school community.
The aim is to always provide healthy and nutritious food and make it readily available. Our menu has a variety of fresh meats, salads, vegetables and fruits for the students to create a tasty recess or lunch.
Our QKR app is a fabulous way to see the foods we have on offer.
Please make sure to check the date entered and that the children know to collect their scrumptious recess or lunch.

Orders can be placed 1 – 7 days prior to the day requested if the order is placed before 8.45am on the day.
If you are having problems with the app, contact the main office for assistance.
Hey kids,
Are you eating breakfast before school? Please do, having breakfast is a great start to your day.
Most breakfast options don’t take too long to prepare –
Two slices of multigrain, wholemeal or white bread or raisin bread or a muffin toasted with your favourite toppers.
A bowl of cereal such as Cheerios, porridge, muesli or are you a Weetbix kid? You can add fruit and/or yoghurt or seeds.

Think of the five food groups – dairy, protein, vegetables, fruit and whole grains
Find the time to eat breakfast, it will stop the tummy grumbles and give you energy until it’s time for recess.
I would like to thank all the students who assist in the canteen, they do a marvellous job and make my job that much easier. Thank you!
