PRINCIPAL’S REPORT

Wednesday 12th March saw the Induction Assembly for our 2025 Student Leaders. It was wonderful to be once again reminded of the outstanding calibre of students that we have here at Exeter High School. I look forward to seeing the valuable contributions this group of students makes to our school throughout 2025.
At Exeter High School, we continue to focus on the creation of orderly learning environments as they are essential for ensuring that students can learn and thrive. These environments are characterised by structure, routine, and clear expectations for behaviour and academic performance. Teachers create orderly learning environments by establishing rules and procedures, enforcing consequences for misbehaviour, and providing students with the support and resources they need to succeed. When students feel safe and supported in their learning environment, they are more likely to engage in academic activities, take risks, and achieve their full potential. As a school, this will be a major focus for the remainder of the year.
As I have highlighted in previous newsletters, school attendance every day is vital for students to succeed. If your child is away for any reason, please notify the school office so that we can adjust attendance records accordingly. Also, if you are having difficulty getting your child to school for any reason, please contact the school to discuss ways in which we, as a school, can provide support to you.
I wish to highlight the importance of respect. Respectful behaviour is vital for maintaining healthy relationships and creating a positive environment. We want all members of the Exeter High School community to be considerate, kind and show empathy towards others in all interactions. Respect is behaviour that should be practiced by everyone, regardless of age, gender, or culture. When people feel respected, they are more likely to communicate openly, share their thoughts, and work with others to achieve common goals. As an EHS community, we want to create a respectful and inclusive environment. Any form of disrespect will not be tolerated this includes the use of offensive or derogatory language, or any kind of racism. YEAR 9 & 10 VISUAL ARTS STUDENTS VISIT QVMAG
On Thursday 13 March, Year 9 & 10 Visual Art students visited QVMAG at Royal Park. We received a guided tour of the Gentle protagonist: Art of Michael McWilliams exhibition and followed this with a self-guided exploration of the ArtRage 2024. It was a successful afternoon, with all students conducting themselves in an exemplary manner.

JUNIOR SRC

Congratulations to our Year 7 and 8 students who have been selected for this year’s Junior Student Representative Council.
Last week, these students presented speeches in their grade assemblies, sharing their perspectives on leadership and their desire to be part of the Junior SRC in 2025. Throughout the year, they will collaborate with the SLC and Interact Club, assisting with fundraisers, social events, and celebration assemblies while continuing to develop their leadership skills. We look forward to seeing the positive impact they will make!

NEWS FROM THE CANTEEN – THE FOOD HUB
Let's continue our chat about breakfast.
Introducing the five food groups for breakfast is not that difficult, and you may already be consuming food items from these groups.
It is very easy to master this good habit, and it has the added fun of taste testing great new foods and recipes.
Always keep in mind to lean towards foods low fat, salt and sugar, and high in fibre.
Breakfast ideas –
- Scrambled eggs with your favourite vegetable and cheese on wholegrain toast
- Muffin with egg, tomato and avocado
- Porridge made with milk and topped with fruit
- Parfait – layered yoghurt, fruit and wholegrain cereal in a glass/cup
- Smoothie – fruit or vegetable, milk and yoghurt blended, seeds, honey, oats, etc can also be added
- Wholegrain wrap – combine cheese, egg and grated or fine diced vegetables. Fold the wrap and toast in a sandwich toaster
Make your favourite start to the day. The possibilities are endless, and you will feel great for it and will benefit from your efforts.
