PRINCIPAL’S REPORT

Welcome Back
Welcome back to Term 4. We hope everyone had a restful and enjoyable break, ready to dive into what promises to be a vibrant and eventful final term of the year.
This term is packed with exciting activities including camps, athletics carnivals, community engagement events, and our much-anticipated end-of-year celebrations. It’s a wonderful time to come together, celebrate achievements, and create lasting memories.
We’re thrilled to announce that we have officially received occupancy of the brand-new Year 9/10 building. While we’re currently waiting on the arrival of furniture, the space is looking fantastic and we’re eager to move in and make it our own.
Last week, I had the pleasure of sitting in on the 2026 Student Leadership Council interviews. Every candidate demonstrated exceptional passion and commitment. Congratulations to all students who participated—you should be incredibly proud of your efforts.
Meanwhile, our Year 8 students are busily preparing for their upcoming camp. As part of their preparation, they’ve been learning how to cook using Trangia camping stoves—an impressive and practical skill that’s sure to come in handy.
We look forward to sharing more updates as the term progresses. Thank you for your continued support and enthusiasm.

2025 ATHLETICS CARNIVAL
Important Information:
| What: | EHS Athletics Carnival |
* Parents/carers and staff vehicles and buses can access Windsor Park.
- All track events will be conducted in an anticlockwise direction.
- A small number of field events will be for Division 1 participants only (due to scheduling constraints)
- No canteen facilities available – STUDENTS MUST BRING OWN FOOD AND DRINK
- Toilet facilities at Windsor Park
- School sports uniform and house colours to be worn + hats and sunscreen
A reminder that placings and ribbons for 100m, 200m and 400m track events are based on the fastest times from all heats (not just Division 1). There will be house meetings scheduled prior to the carnival to provide reminders and encourage participation.

EXETER SCHOOLS BUS SERVICE - GLENGARRY TO EXETER VIA FLOWERY GULLY
Due to the closure of Loop Road by the West Tamar Council following a culvert failure, until repaired this will affect the route of our Glengarry to Exeter via Flowery Gully Exeter Schools service. From the start of Term 4, we will be picking up and dropping off at Millers Road and turning back to the highway from there. This arrangement will be in place until council re-opens the road for access. 8.00am start time and remainder of service will run as per usual timetable. This will mean a short wait at Millers Road to ensure we don’t run early for the remainder of the service. Please contact the Manions office team on 6383 1221 if you have questions or queries.
YEAR 8 CAMP PREPARATION

Our Year 8 students spent Lesson 2 Tuesday practising their Trangia cooking skills in preparation for camp later this term.
They cooked one of the meals they’ll prepare while away and will have another opportunity to build their skills before camp. Next Wednesday, they’ll also take a practice walk to Gravelly Beach and back to get ready for the 17km bush and beach trek on Day 1.
Excitement is building for camp!
YEAR 11 and 12 FORESTRY EXCURSION

At Exeter High School, we are very fortunate to have developed relationships with several outside research and educational organisations that go a long way to support our Year 11/12 students. One such relationship is with the Forestry Education Foundation. In collaboration with our local NRM North organisation, last year our high school and primary school students constructed phase one of our shelter belt project using multiple species trees. Following on from that experience, last Tuesday our year 11/12s were further exposed to the commercial aspect of tree cropping with an excursion to Retreat (near Pipers River) to visit an active forestry coup. During the field experience students met a range of specialists to explore the connection between forestry and agriculture in North East Tasmania. This included an overview of the Forest Practices planning process, site specific environmental considerations and ongoing management of plantation resources. Timberlands Pacific specialists provided opportunities for students to engage in discussions covering their own career pathways into forestry. Following the field operations, students visited the Timberlinks Australia mill at Bell Bay for a tour through the processing mill - furthering opportunities to explore career pathways in forestry. Many thanks go to the specialist professionals from Timberlands Pacific and Timberlinks Australia who gave up their time to engage with our students. Thanks also to Darcy Vickers, manager of Forestry Education Foundation, for organising the excursion.

1000 HEARTS PROJECT

Our 1000 Hearts kindness project is well underway. Student leaders are doing an amazing job engaging the school community to stitch 1000 pocket hearts. We have stitched 271 so far and counting.
These hearts will be shared in our local community via a range of support services such as Tresca, Beaconsfield Community House and Launceston City Mission. We will also be gifting jars to our school nurse, social worker, psychologist and chaplain for sharing with students when a little extra love and kindness are needed.
